Well, my bankroll for book buys is just to big and I would like some suggestions on what books on my fave topic to buy. Football and basketball is my main interests but I would also like to learn some usefull stuff about baseball.

ergo: baseball books does not strictly have to be about sports betting as long as they teach a swnky swede some nice stuff about baseball.

Thank you in advance!

Great! Thank you!

I am especially interested in reading material I can bring to the beach..... well, the cafe anyway since the swimming season in Sweden is not to be trusted.

Sorry for the vague question. I am interested in good books on handicapping and sports betting. Both fiction and non-fiction.

I find it strange that here are so few valuable books on Sports betting given the amount of money, time and passion invested in sport betting.

Farbror,

Here are a few I've read (and with some parts reread):

Technical or How to Book to read:

"Sharp Sports Betting" by Stanford Wong (with the NFL season quickly approaching this would be a nice read. Chapters on Props and Teasers are excellent)

Fun Sports Betting Books to read:

"The Odds" by Chad Millman (takes you inside the world of sports betting in Vegas for one NCAA basketball season. You feel the ups and downs of the bettors and sports book managers with every strange twist of the season. Not really a lot of "how to" advice included, but a great "beach" reading book)

"The National Football Lottery" by Larry Merchant (out-of-print book that you might find on amazon.com or ebay. Follows the author's bets for an entire season in the early 1970's - again a fun read if you would like a look back to the days before the computer was an everyday tool - let alone the internet and offshore gambling)

Just a few of my favorites - hope this helped.

Good Luck!

Thank you! Wong and Millman is always on the re-readlist.

I will try to track the third book down.

I'd recommend the Baseball Prospectus books if you are interested in baseball. They do more analysis focused on building/analyzing winning teams and players than any short term single game stuff and betting isn't their focus, but they still write pretty good stuff (think more like the original source material that someone like Rob Neyer summarizes and explains to a more general audience).

The Zen of Gambling by Wayne Allyn Root is an excellent book, a must read.

I have read it and quite honestly missed all good points about the book. What do you like about the book?

Cheers, farbror
